Image of reader review of Car Pool by Karin Kallmaker. Car Pool, like many of Kallmaker's books, presents readers with a sweet romance. But, she doesn't shy away from including real-world issues in her books. Those situations force her characters (and readers) to tackle difficult topics along the way to the HEA ending.

Karin Kallmaker's books are always worth reading again, just to see how you and the world have (or, sadly at times, haven't) changed.

“Anytime I see Karin Kallmaker’s name on a book, I know it’s one I need to read.

Car Pool, like many of Kallmaker’s books, presents readers with a sweet romance. But, she doesn’t shy away from including real-world issues in her books. Those situations force her characters (and readers) to tackle difficult topics along the way to the HEA ending.

Car Pool confronts corporate homophobia, pollution, class issues, and the challenges confronting inter-racial couples. I’ve read this book multiple times since it was first published [in 1993], and I’m sure I’ll re-read it again. Karin Kallmaker’s books are always worth reading again, just to see how you and the world have (or, sadly at times, haven’t) changed.

And, for those who didn’t experience some of these times in person, Kallmaker’s books can be a good education on what our LGBTQIA+ elders faced and fought to overcome.” – Ruth F. Simon
