Yes, that odd blue triangular figure was supposed to be the dog. I really like the Bella Books edition cover much better, and it captures that snow-quiet winter landscape where Jackie abandons her blizzard-disabled car and is rescued by renowned painter–and renowned recluse–Leah and her dog, Butch.
