We will never sell or give away your email or contact information. End of story. Your personal information will be used only to ship orders or send you information that you requested. Karin and trusted helpers are the only people who will ever see your email address or contact information.

Transparency

We do not participate in the industry practice of sending multiple followup emails asking for your review or to fill out a satisfaction survey. (Reviews are, of course, most appreciated, but we're not going to hound you!) Once the transaction is complete, it's complete. You will only receive further email if you opt-in to our mailing list or there is a problem with fulfilling your order - with one exception. If you are a first time customer, you will receive a single "Welcome" email after your first purchase asking you to join the mailing list. If you do nothing, you won't be added. Subsequent orders will not trigger any additional marketing emails. Every newsletter mailing has an obvious unsubscribe link.

Data is retained only to allow us to help you with your order or a future order, if needed. See above: We will never sell of give away your email or contact information. Requests to delete your data will be promptly honored.

Software used for this site and web store are industry standard with payment services and security provided by Stripe. Our store is PayPal Verified. AI is deployed by these services to detect fraud and spam. Payment information is not stored at this site or accessible to anyone at this site.

Please Provide a Valid Email

We completely understand using throwaway email addresses for one-time purchases. The followup marketing is ferocious and intrusive. However, for the reasons and policies we've given above, we feel it is reasonable and safe for you to provide a valid email to us. That's the only way you will receive a record of your purchase and a durable link to get to your downloads again, should you need to. Whenever you use those credentials to log in again the site will load more quickly and speed up your checkout.

You can safely use Karin's web store to buy signed books. All paperbacks ordered will be signed. If you want the book personalized, be sure to leave instructions in the message box at check-out. IF YOU DO NOT WANT IT SIGNED AT ALL, you must say so.

Or, after purchase, reply to your order confirmation email with your instructions.

Our paperbacks have been stored in dry, smoke-free conditions. Some are very limited editions.

Please provide enough information so the books can be signed appropriately. If you say the book is for a friend, for example, Karin is likely to write, "Friends who give books are keepers," or something close to that. Birthdays, anniversaries, gift for the clueless friend, or a treat for yourself? Explain and the signature will be personalized for that. Or, if you simply want a signature leave the instruction box blank.

Recycling for Our Fragile Planet

We make every attempt to recycle, reuse, and repurpose shipping materials. Your books will likely arrive in envelopes or boxes that have been previously used for shipping and have branding from other companies on the exterior. These materials have been stored in dust-free, smoke-free conditions for at least 14 days before they are used again.

We encourage you to reuse them as well!

Every effort will be made to ship your books to you quickly and correctly. If something isn't right, we will make it right. However, if the mailing address provided during checkout is incorrect, and the books are returned to sender, we will ask you to pay for the shipping cost of the second shipment by whatever means you select.

Shipments are Calculated by Weight

Because these shipments are calculated by weight, it's often possible to add another book without increasing the postage cost. For example, it's often the same cost to ship 3 books as 2 books. Our shipping calculator attempts to take this into account.

We make this promise - if after we ship the books we find the cost to you was overestimated, we will refund the difference to you.

Full and Complete Shipping Address is Vital

Our shop is fully automated and whatever you enter for shipping information is how the package will be addressed when your local mail person finally handles it. Please be complete! We can't replace lost books and ship again at our expense if we've addressed the package as you specified during checkout and the shipment doesn't reach you. We want you to be happy, yes we do! But we're not a huge retailer with unlimited resources and unlimited stock. Some of our books are last known copies of some editions and would be impossible to replace.

All shipments are sent USPS International Priority Mail with delivery estimated at 4-8 business days. Please be aware that reliable shipment tracking for us lasts only until the parcel leaves US borders. After that, we are not responsible for delivery of the books.

Packages are sent marked "merchandise." Your postal service may charge tax/tariff upon delivery. Every country does it differently and it is impossible for us to predict.

We make this promise - if after we ship the books we find the cost to you was overestimated, we will refund the difference to you.

Express shipping services are so expensive (4-5 times the price of a book) that we cannot in good conscience offer them.
