Instead, this story is a balanced gift of romance and evolution, with a small and welcomed twist, as well as rumination on feminist culture in a time when feminism did not and could not exist. When women were property and not expected to feel passion, or pleasure, or even happiness. Overall, I really enjoyed the read, so much so that the epilogue brought a tear to my eye.
